Standing at the entrance to the sea, a dark, menacing shelf cloud looms over the horizon, drawing nearer and sapping out the usual warmth and serenity that the ocean can bring and replacing it with a wet sort of chill that settles in the bones. Slowly the tide recedes, pulling back from the sandy shore and into the ocean to meet the storm cloud halfway, uncovering what seems like miles of wet sand and shells until they are tucked away beneath the undertow. The tide pulls back and up into a towering wave that seems several stories overhead, showing inside the many colors and textures and life of the ocean on display in the massive wall just before coming and crashing down against the shoreline, leaving sea foam in its wake. The feeling of standing in front of a stormy sea is captured here in this photographic art that depicts a close-up of tree bark taking the shape of a force of nature.
